Als Alex Mercer eines Morgens in seinem New Yorker Appartment aufwacht, kann er sich an nicht viel mehr als seinen Namen erinnern. Seine komplette Identitt scheint ausgelscht. Wovon er nichts weiss: Ein geheimes Experiment hat aus ihm einen Gestaltwandler gemacht. Einem Chamleon gleich, kann er nicht nur die Gestalt anderer annehmen, sondern auch deren Identitt und Erinnerungen. Ausserdem verfgt er ber unglaubliche Krfte und spinnengleiche Kletterfhigkeiten. In New York macht er sich auf die Suche nach seiner eigenen Identitt. Doch in den Schluchten von Manhatten wtet eine tdliche Seuche und Monster, die noch niemand zu Gesicht bekommen hat, beherrschen komplette Strassenzge. Die Jagd nach dem eigenen "Ich" wird schnell zum berlebenskampf, in dem Alex Mercer lernt, seine neuen Fhigkeiten wirksam zu nutzenrastlos auf der Suche nach der Wahrheit. Hierbei wird jeder zum Feind, der sich ihm in den Weg stellt. Mercer kann sich fortan in jeden seiner getteten Gegner verwandeln, deren Fhigkeiten annehmen und in deren Erinnerungen lesen, als wren es seine eigenen. Aus der 3rd-Person-Ansicht setzt Prototype auf ein Hchstmass an Authentizitt durch anspruchsvolle Gegner-KI, komplett zerstrbare Szenarien und Figuren sowie Passanten, die in einer frei begehbaren Welt auf jede Situation individuell reagieren. Die ersten Screenshots versprechen zudem eine grafisch berzeugende Umsetzung des interessanten Spielkonzepts. Man darf also durchaus auf Prototype gespannt seinwir behalten den Titel auf alle Flle weiterhin im Auge.
